IRISH RIVER PIKE
It is a Sunday morning in February. My youngest son is playing a soccer match with the Tipperary squad against Waterford. I keep an eye on my watch as I have a plan for the rest of the afternoon: fly fishing for pike in the river Suir.
WHEN GIANTS MEET
Once every year in the closed season two South Tipperary fly-fishing associations organize an encounter at a rainbow trout lake. The main intend of the day is to have a bit of Craig. But of course there is the underlying competitive feeling between associations and their members.
FIRST RATE IDE
It’s been months ago since I have been out fishing. The waters I fish with pleasure so often are frozen for months now and besides that it’s much colder my hands can handle. The last few weeks I am a little frustrated about the weather, but at times when the sun comes through I start thinking about fishing for ide.
At the end of the rainbow…. You will find : rainbows…….If a couple of years ago someone had told me that I would be fishing for stocked rainbows, I would have declared him nuts.
THE BLUE WINGED OLIVE BLUES
The months of July and August are great months for fishing blue winged olive ( Ephemerella ignita) imitations. The water temperature has increased a good bit and hatches occur during the day but moreover during the evening time.
THREE NIGHTS, THREE FISH
Last weekend(August 20-22) which is known as “the inferior season”, I took my chance again and travelled to the Southern part of Jutland for a lucky shot. This spot near Haderslev is one of the spots I visited frequently and always produces fish.
VINGT-QUATRE-SEPT SUR LES VACANCES!
Holidays season, 247 fly-fishing philosophy changes from the real thing to the virtual thing. With the Irish summer of last year in mind we decided to head off to France. The selected area is the Dordogne, a nice green area in the center of France.
MAYFLY IS ON! PART 3
The weather has improved for the last couple of days. All of a sudden a training at work is overbooked leaving me with an empty calendar. Although there is always plenty of work I realize that it is a great opportunity to fish the may fly again.
